A sheep farmer's daughter
Paula Ryan did not launch a fashion label because she saw a market opportunity. She launched it because she was genuinely frustrated. As a former Fashion Quarterly editor who had spent her career immersed in the industry, she could see clearly what fashion was getting wrong: fabrics chosen for cost, not performance; cuts that flattered the rack, not the body; pieces engineered to be replaced, not kept.
Her Canterbury farming background gave her a specific lens. Growing up around people who chose materials for their performance over time, she applied the same logic to clothing.
