A sheep farmer's daughter
Paula Ryan launched her label in 1998 because she was genuinely frustrated. As a former Fashion Quarterly editor, she could see what fashion was getting wrong: fabrics chosen for cost, not performance. Pieces engineered to be replaced, not kept.
That founding principle has never changed. Every Paula Ryan garment is still designed and made in Christchurch, New Zealand, from fabrics selected for how they perform over years, not how they look on the rack.
